House and Senate leaders have scheduled a new round of interviews for Virginia’s appellate courts on Dec. 12.
It is not yet known who will be on the interview schedules.
The Senate Courts of Justice Committee scheduled a 9 a.m. meeting that day.
The House courts committee judicial panel then announced a 1 p.m. joint meeting with the Senate judicial panel.
The Senate Courts Committee will interview additional appellate candidates in the morning session, according to legislative staff.
The interviews set for 1 p.m. for Senate Courts and the House judicial panel will be interviews of incumbent judges standing for reelection in 2015. The House committee is not scheduled to interview additional appellate candidates, a staffer said.
The Senate courts panel this week formally invited additional candidates to interview for vacancies on the state Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
Although five candidates interviewed Nov. 10 for up to four seats on those courts, the Assembly delayed selection of any new appellate judges as some Senators urged additional interviews.
