The Isle of Wight School Board approved a 2 percent pay bump for all employees earlier this year, which went into effect with the current budget that started in July.
The school system now spends more than $29.1 million on salaries for employees, according to salary information provided by the school system.
That’s more than half of the schools’ total operating expenses this year, which was budgeted at just north of $57 million.
